Giulio Caccini (1545-1618) was an important Italian vocalist, instrumentalist, and composer who was influential in moving music from the Renaissance to the Baroque era with his revolutionary Le nuove musiche (new music). This hauntingly beautiful arrangement of his Ave Maria may easily become a program favorite. Its simplicity makes it available to ensembles of almost any level, while advanced performers will appreciate the intense emotional experience it can provide.
